Travis was in his apartment, phone glued to his ear talking with his girlfriend. He had been for a good bit now, trying to wrangle flights and all that. "Ok. You'll be on the 8:45 coming into Brunswick Wednesday?... Great. Oh wait, I gotta check if I'm on duty that day. Hold please.." he began.
He rushed to his calendar. As he did he heard a knock at the door. "It's open," he said. A husky puppy looked up at him from his little doggie bed. "Come on in!" He said.
"Fine guard dog you'll be" he muttered, returning to the phone. "Yeah. That's fine. Can't wait to see you. K, bye. Love you." He said, hanging up.
Tara heard the call to come in and went into the apartment, closing the door behind her but not venturing further into the apartment.
"Hey," she said when he hung up the phone.
"Hey what's up Tara? Travis said. "Can I get you anything? Sweet tea? Coffee?" Travis said, inviting her to sit. "Watch out for Quill. He's a real killer." He laughed.
"I know he is," she said, going directly to the puppy to pet him. "Water would be wonderful."
"Coming right up." Travis said. He went into his fridge and came out with a Dasani and a sweet tea. He handed Tara the water..
"Thanks," Tara said, popping the water open and taking a sip. She closed the bottle and continued to pet the dog who seemed to enjoy her attention. "So you need a do sitter?" she asked, looking up at him.
"Well Quill definitely likes you. That's a plus." Travis grinned. "Would you be ok with that. It'd only be like a few hours at most. Kristen, the woman I just finished talking to, if flying up from Texas." He explained.
"Oh, okay..." she said, Tara had expected it to be a longer job eventually. "You have to go up to Atlanta to get her?" she asked. It would make sense with a new puppy to want to keep them entertained if they'd be gone for hours.
"Atlanta. I hadn't thought about that." Travis admitted. "Heading up to the big city. So much to do up there. Would you mind if we made a day of it?"
"Not at all," she said, with a shrug. "I'll take good care of Quill."
"Oh, I got no doubt." Travis smiled. "He likes you. Good enough for me." He chuckled.
"Alright, well if you can gather up some things for me for the day. I'll head out."
"Cool Todays what, Tuesday?" he asked no one in particular. "Hold on a minute," he said. He ducked into his little "office." Which consisted of a ps4, tv and anime dvd's. He was in there for a quick second. "Heres an extra key. And Quill's stuff is in the hall closet. It has the "dog stuff" sign on it." he laughed.
"Monday," she corrected, taking the key. "I hope you have a good time.
